general2General Dentistry is the portion of our practice that focuses on evaluation, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of oral health problems. We understand the link between the health of your mouth and your total health, and we strive to improve the total health of our patients. When you visit Hartnett Dental Care in Hamburg, NY for general dentistry services we go above and beyond to gather a complete picture of your health. By doing this, we can provide the proper dental services to prevent and treat oral health problems that may lead or be affecting your overall health.

Our General Dentistry services include:

Porcelain Fillings

Hartnett Dental Care offers porcelain fillings, both onlays and inlays. Porcelain fillings are a more conservative alternative to crowns. When a tooth is cracked, decayed, or has a broken down filling, an onlay or inlay is an ideal way to restore a tooth. These natural looking restorations are made in our office and placed in one visit.

Same Day Crowns

Unlike typical restorations, which require you to wear a temporary crown and return for a second visit, restorations are created the same day, right in our practice. Using our CAD CAM technology, we can create color matched, metal free and highly durable crowns in a single appointment.

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more teeth on either side of the gap. That’s a good thing because missing teeth can cause surrounding teeth to shift, which can change your bite or make your jaw sore. Bridges serve as an aesthetic purpose allowing you to restore health and function to your smile.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is versatile and can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or secure dentures. A dental implant consist of 3 parts: a titanium screw that replaces the root of the tooth, a porcelain crown that replaces the missing tooth, and a piece in the middle ( called an abutment) that connects the screw and the crown. Dental implants improve chewing capability, restore comfort and enhance the smile.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

A full mouth reconstruction is a process in which we restore all, (or nearly all) the teeth to achieve an aesthetic, healthy, functional smile. By taking in the combination of artistry, technology and dental science, we can take a mouth that has been worn down through years of clenching, grinding, and other destructive processes: we rebuild them back to health, function and beauty.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal is a treatment that is needed when damage occurs to a tooth’s pulp. This can happen due to injury or due to severe tooth decay. A root canal can be an alternative to a tooth extraction and can be a very effective way to eliminate tooth pain.
After a root canal, you should consider having a porcelain crown put over the tooth as this will help prevent tooth breakage.

Partial Dentures

A removable partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum colored plastic base, which is sometimes connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position.

Complete dentures can be either “conventional” or “immediate.” Made after teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, a conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about eight to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed.
Unlike conventional dentures , immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.

When a tooth is severely damaged or broken, sometimes the only solution is to remove it. Extractions may also be necessary when extra teeth our blocking other teeth from coming in or in cases of severe crowding. Wisdom teeth, also called third molars can be extracted either before or after they come in. They need to be removed if they are decayed, cause pain, or have a cyst or infection.

We customize treatment based on your specific needs, to improve gum tissue health, and your overall health and wellness.
